Everything You Need to Know

Things You Can Do At Home To Help Your Child At School

*Read together every night
*Ask your child what they learned in school today
*Ask your child to tell you a story about their day
*Set a routine for your child to follow
*Follow through with consequences

Communication

Education is a partnership between home and school. In order for your child to succeed we must communicate to find out what works best for them.
Please feel free to call, write a note, or e-mail me if you have concerns or questions about your child’s education.  I am always available to schedule a conference to discuss any issue or concern you have regarding your child.

Arrival and Dismissal

Class begins promptly at 8:25 am; please have your child to school before then. The front office asks that after the first nine weeks, parents allow their child to walk themselves to class. Dismissal begins at 2:50 pm. Parents are unable to check students out early after 2:15.

Car Riders

Parents of car riders need to register in the front office. You will be given a number to hang from your rearview mirror when picking up your child.

BEE Folders

B.E.E. (Bring Everything Everyday) folders will be sent home every day. B.E.E. folders contain a wealth of information for your reference such as homework, newsletters, and contact information.
*Please make sure to send in every day!*

Homework

At the beginning of each month your child will receive a MONTHLY homework calendar. Homework will coincide with what we are learning in the classroom. This is another way to stay involved with what your child is learning every day.  Homework will be turned in on Fridays at the end of each week. Students who have all homework turned in at the end of each 9 weeks will receive a cookie party.

Newsletters

Mr. Simpson will send home a green newsletter weekly. You will find this in your child’s BEE folder in the “Keep at Home” pocket.
I will also send home a class newsletter on Mondays. If you are ever curious about what’s going on school wide or in our classroom - check the newsletter!

Lunch

Breakfast and Lunch at our school are now free for all students! Breakfast is served in the cafeteria from 8:00-8:25. If you plan to have your child eat breakfast at school, please make sure to arrive early enough for them to make it to class at 8:25.

and fill out the volunteer application. This must be filled out to take part in classroom volunteering and field trips.

Behavior Expectations

We will be using the color chart system to help monitor behaviors.  Your child’s behavior will be recorded daily in their planner. Please take a look and sign it daily.

Students begin their day on the left-hand side of GREEN (smiley face). They will be given one warning and move their stick to the right side of GREEN. Depending on their behavior, a student may have to move to YELLOW (straight face) and RED (sad face).

Green
Extraordinary day! You get a sticker in your planner!

Yellow
10 minutes off recess. You get a straight face and a note home explaining behavior

Red
No recess that day or Fun Friday that week. You get a sad face and a note home explaining behavior

If a student is repeatedly on red, I will ask to meet with parents to conference about possible solutions

Resource Schedule

We have a set resource schedule, which will take place Tuesday through Friday.
